Festival Celebrations

NBW participants are welcome to bring friends and families to our annual Festival days and to share a vegetarian meal with us. At most of our events there are children’s activities, music, songs, poetry readings, short films, slide shows and good company.

We celebrate the two main annual Buddhist festivals.

Wesak, which takes place in May, also known as Vesak or Buddha Day, is one of the most important festivals for Buddhists and is celebrated by millions across the world to commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha.

Bodhi Day, which takes place in December, marks the day that Siddhartha Gautama reached enlightenment after meditating under a Bodhi tree for 49 days.
